Zoë Kundu: Soloist Winter 2015 (trumpet)

Zoë Kundu is currently in Year 11 at Forest School, studying the trumpet with Julie Ryan on a music scholarship, with piano as a second study. She achieved a distinction in her trumpet grade 8 exam in 2013, and took her DipABRSM exam on the piano in December 2015.

Previously, Zoë was in the National Children’s Orchestra and the National Children’s Wind Orchestra as principal trumpet, playing in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bristol Colston Hall and The Lighthouse in Poole. In the summer of 2015 she had the opportunity to play alongside the Aurora Orchestra at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Youth Ensemble, and recently played at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London as part of a ‘Big Band in a Day’ venture.

Zoë plays in a variety of ensembles at school to obtain as much experience as possible in different types of music, playing jazz and contemporary music, as well as music for brass ensembles and orchestras. She hopes to apply for a place at a conservatoire after completing sixth form.
